I love your page. I've recently been seeing a lot of mixed media and other websites that aren't really social media on TikTok, like cool things to look at on the internet like Neocities, SpaceHey, BitView, etc., and these are some cool new internet places with amazing art I've been checking out.
(P.S. If any of y'all know more cool websites, let me know. This is really interesting.)
Yours truly, KittyKat
Hello KittyKat! YES I have been really loving Neocities as a social media alternative-- it is still social media-like in a way, since you're still able to follow people's profiles and like and comment, but even that feature can be turned off on here if you'd like. It's certainly not algorithm-based, and that's what makes it so special
definitely check out nekoweb too, its arguably even better than Neocities feature-wise (I just know a lot less people who use it)! But it's also a fantastic place to host a website. If you want to see a bunch of websites I personally find cool, check out my neighbors page!
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it!
thank you!! i'm so glad someone is poking around down in that little office <3 i appreciate the love and I look forward to seeing your site once you make one!
hello coffeeplant
i’m not sure what happened as i dont follow too many people. based on your words though: it’s very difficult to gather tone or communication online. especially with strangers. in my experience, i always feel either too edgy or passive aggressive when i choose to use or not use emotes. at the end of the day though, it is very ridiculous to jump to conclusions about a persons tone and intention based on EMOJIS! i’m sure you get what i mean! this is yet one of the many examples of how the public internet, even neocities, isn’t a conducive place to communicate. :/ people will assume the worst and love to shit on others for terribly petty reasons. please don’t worry too much about whoever that is ^^
Hello Limo
I appreciate the kind words. It is certainly difficult to deduce tone over text, especially in an age where emotes (which were originally created specifically to convey a certain tone) are often used passive-aggressively. I try to use emotes and exclamation points (!!!) to convey that I am pretty positive overall, but I suppose if someone doesn't look at my website or scroll down my profile they wouldn't really know that about me. It was a bit strange to me to jump straight to the "hostile" conclusion, but I understand how it could happen if you aren't in a great headspace. Overall, though, I have found Neocities to be the most positive online environment that I have encountered, and I have never decided to be hateful or passive-aggressive or mean to anyone on here -- and I plan for that to continue to be the case! I quite enjoy it here. Thank you for your words
Thank you SO much this means a lot coming from you hahaha! There will CERTAINLY be more, I have some ideas floating around I just have to get started on. You have a kickass site, I appreciate the love.
I wish you luck in making it!!!
Very excited to see future updates for sure. Your site is so immersive, it really does feel like going through someone else's computer right before y2k.
Thank you so very much!! That means a lot, considering how awesome Windows 99 is.
I'd love to see a Microsoft Bob clone-- I hardly see anyone talk about it much at all, so experiencing it through Windows 99 would be exciting and I certainly can't take credit for the Wikipedia section of my site!! I used a template offered by html5-templates. Didn't wanna re-invent the wheel there! Super easy to customize, in my opinion. If you like the way my layout is organized/how I have categories spaced out, feel free to copy-paste whatever I have going on and fool around, too. Thank u very much!

wow, awesome aesthetic! I love everything what you did here, so I added your button to my neighbors (links) page
thank you so much!! I will definitely add your button back later! i also love green tea
your site's setup is so warm, i really like the nooks of it and the details of your personality shown through it
thank you so much!!! i'm so glad you enjoy. you should order a drink at a coffee shop sometime, even if you aren't a fan of coffee! there's something so special to me about taking a trip to a coffee shop and sitting there for a while with a drink as I crochet or paint or browse on neocities.
Thank you so much, I appreciate you stopping back!! I'm really glad the legal links page is interesting for people other than just me hahaha i'll definitely be adding more to it soon, it's a bit sparse! thank you again!
hello kuroi, thank you so much!!! I’ve loved talking to you while we fish it was so exciting to hear that you found a perfume somewhere with a mushroom note after we were just talking about it, it warmed my heart <3 and definitely understandable not wanting to share your address— sometimes people who do postcrossing use a P.O. Box or something similar so their postcards aren’t sent directly to their home address. Best wishes to you as well!!!
Thank you so much!!! You should totally make more rooms!! I'm trying to think of more creative ideas on how to go to new places making the painting into a passageway was so fun to do, I'm still kinda fleshing out the break room and law office. I appreciate the love!!
Thank you!! The Library was such a pita to set up T_T I have soo much more to add but I'm still a bit burnt out from spending a whole day redesigning the entry sections and wrestling with the code, haha. I love your site!!! So fun to explore!
